For those of you that are new here, I recently adopted a kitten from the shelter.
While at the shelter, the majority of her fur was shaved. Well, except for her tummy, legs, head and tail. It's probably the reason why she wasn't adopted as quickly as one would have expected.
Whoever shaved her, did a terrible job. It's so bad that she was the talk of the Vet's office when she went in for her first check-up. Poor kitty will forever be known as the kitty with the freaky haircut.
It is slowly growing back.
Too slowly.
The anticipation is killing me!
I can't wait until her fur grows back. It's just like Christmas. I don't know what I am going to get.

It seems like they were trying to give her a lion cut, the same cut I get my Maine Coon Mowgli every six months or so. Their hair gets so matted underneath unless you do this for them. The problem with the vet cut that poor little Olive got, is they didn't even shave underneath. Alas, the difference between a good and bad haircut is a week, though sadly it may take a bit longer for her. She still is cute as a button! You must be having so much fun with her :)
ReplyDeleteMy post for the challenge is up over at Ink & Stitches. I'd love for you to come by and check it out: http://blog.jhwinter.com. A is for Amigurumi!
Hi Julianne. Our Vet is at a loss as to why she was shaved the way that she was. All the hard to keep clean areas were not even touched. So, she looks really funny with all this hair sticking out in weird places because the shave was so uneven.
DeleteAs you can see in the video, they shaved the back of her head and just stopped. Everyone that saw her that first week thought there was something wrong with her head because it was so big compared to her body.
I think you may be right about it taking longer for her. We have had her about 2 months now and her hair is barely starting to grow.
She is adorable! What's her name? I'd be excited also to see how she turns out... give us an update!

Thank you, Mary. Her name is Olive. I am sure she will be mentioned in many posts to come. :-)
DeleteWhat a beautiful cat. I have six cats - all boys - and the house wouldn't be the same without them.
ReplyDeleteWishing you and your cat all the best in the years ahead.
Good luck with the rest of the challenge.
Thank you, elenchera. I have never had a boy cat. Well, not that I can remember. I would love to have more in the house, but the other person that lives here will only let me have 2 at a time.
Deleteoh my! How adorable! What a fun surprise you have coming! Im glad your cat found a forever home!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Melissa Priest. I think she is adorable too. I think she will be quite pretty once she is done growing. At least, I hope so. Either way, she does have a cute face. :-)
DeleteIt's always a surprise (and not always a good one!) to see hwo my doggie will look when I pick her up from the groomer! Your cat is adorable anyways!
ReplyDeleteI remember when my Mom would pick up the dog from the groomers and you are right, it is always a surprise. :-) Thank you, BehindtheWoodVeneer.
DeleteOh my! What a hair cut. I giggled when I saw it and my two year old asked to see and he said , "pretty cat" so someone out there likes it!
ReplyDeleteI have to say that her haircut has sure made her popular with everyone. Thank you Amy Vanden brink. :-)
DeleteEven now she is so beautiful, i can't wait to see pictures of her with full grown fur! :)
ReplyDeleteShe's adorable! It's ok, Olive, we've all had bad hairdos. I had bangs a few years ago and I have photographic evidence that it was a REALLY BAD IDEA.
ReplyDeleteHaHaHa! Thanks Tina Haapala! :-)
DeleteShe's adorable - even with the strange haircut ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anne B. I really think so too. :-)
DeleteBad haircut or not, she is beautiful! I love her little white paws. How old is she?
ReplyDeleteThanks darkchami. The shelter said she was 7 months old when I adopted her back in February. Our Vet seems to think that she may be closer to a year but not older than that.
DeleteEven with a bad haircut she is cute.
ReplyDeleteThanks LisaDV. :-)
DeleteAwww she's gorgeous and a lucky girl to have been given what is obviously a caring home.
ReplyDeleteThank you Michelle G. That is very kind of you to say.
DeleteSuch a pretty little thing
