The August Break (in September) :: Week 2

Well, here it is the end of September and I don't think that I will be making my goal of posting all of my August Break photos before September ends. I still have one more day though. But, if I still don't make it, there's always August Break (in October).

They are not the cutest of cat toys, but the cats sure do love them. Especially, late at night when the humans are trying to sleep.

The August Break (in September) :: Week 1 continued

This year's August Break didn't turn out at all like I had planned.

I have come to the conclusion that I really do need a new computer and the realization that a new fancy camera is needed as well. I have a Canon XT and it is just not working like it used to. The focus is going. It is an old camera though. I bought it back in 2007. It's really frustrating. It's sad that digital cameras don't live forever.

So, here I am. Slowly adding what August Break photos I was able to download to my computer with the goal of having them all posted to the blog before the month of September is over.

My newest Bonita Ash tree is not doing so well this year. It took months for the leaves to come in and when they did they grew back in clumps. I will be very surprised if it makes it another year.

August Break 2016: Day 2

August 1, 2016

And so begins my 5th year of participating in the August Break.

The August Break project is simple. The only thing you have to do is to take a photograph every day for the entire month of August. That's it! You can take a photo of anything and everything. There are no rules on what the photos must be. Although, the past few years have included a list of photo prompts just in case you get stuck for ideas.

I don't usually follow the prompts and just photograph what I want.

Except this time. This time I actually did follow the suggested prompt for my first photo.

And so begins icad 2016

Time to pull out the index cards and get busy.

Time to pull out the index cards and get busy.

The index card-a-day project aka icad 2016 actually started back on June 1st. I'm just a month behind in sharing anything. This year, I am taking the laid back and easy route. I am not putting too much pressure on myself to come up with fancy index cards. I have done that in years past but found that due to the high humidity of the desert monsoon season, my cards would never dry. I have so many unfinished index cards. So, this year I am trying to only use supplies that don't require any drying time.

Home.

Home.

This is the view from my childhood home. This is where I grew up. This is where I used to play. It has always been wide open desert. I will be so upset if they ever build anything in this spot.

Introducing Izzy (Isobel)

She finally has a name!

Actually, she has had a name for awhile but I haven't been able to take a photo of her because she spends most of her time under the bed.

She is afraid of the television and normal every day sounds, like coughing or talking. She comes out every so often and really loves to play. But mostly, this all happens at night when everything has been turned off and we are heading to bed. I was pretty excited to finally get a photo of her during day time hours.
