Z is for Ziblings

Ever since I was 18 years old, I have been kind of partial to the letter Z. That is the year that I found my birth family and met my siblings...all who happen to have names that start with the letter Z. I love the letter Z!

Y is for Yesteryear

It's weird how a person can look at a photo and remember that point in time. Photos taken way before your ability to remember, like baby photos for instance. Photos linked to stories that are told to you by others. Stories that then become your own memories.

Then the day comes when someone gives you a photo of yourself that you never knew existed. A photo without a memory....that is until someone tells you the story.

"I guess Michael was right when he said you never bought him clothes.. Bet he was barefooted also! This was Easter many years ago."

My brother, forever taking off his clothes and me in quite the mini-skirt.

X is for X-stitching

One of the first crafts that I taught myself to do was x-stitching (cross-stitching/embroidery). I remember digging through my Mom's hope chest and finding an old embroidery kit. I tried my best to figure out how to do it. I think I pretty much just made up stitches as I went along just to fill out the pattern that was printed on the fabric.

This is way before the time of the Internet, so that meant I had to search for books and magazines that could teach me what I needed to know. Thank goodness for the library and really inexpensive magazine subscriptions that a child could afford.

As with all my crafts, I have never finished a x-stitch project just for me. X-stitching was something I did to give as a  gift to others.

Over the years, I have completed a few small hangings, some barrettes and some ornaments. But mostly what I loved to do was x-stitch on baby bibs and baby onesies. One of these days I will stitch again. I mean, I have to do something with all this floss that I have accumulated over the years.

U is for Unbelievable

How can April (and this challenge) almost be over? This month flew by way too fast.

Even more unbelievable is that we are almost half-way through the year. How in the world does that happen?

T is for Tea

I love tea.

Especially yummy Rooibos tea. Oh....and yummy yummy Chai.

My all time favorite though is called Foxtrot from Adagio Teas. Sadly, it has been way too long since I have had some. Ever since my favorite tea maker broke, I have been drinking a lot less loose tea.

That hasn't stopped me from drinking regular old tea though and lately it's been all about the iced tea. It's hot here and getting hotter every day. Luckily, the upstairs cafe at work is now serving tea, which makes it easy peasy to grab a huge cup or two to drink through out the day.

S is for Saroyan

I started knitting Saroyan as a gift for my Mom back in February of last year. I had hoped to finish it in time for her birthday at the end of February. I didn't finish.

Then I hoped to finish it in time for Mother's Day. I didn't finish.

Then I hoped to finish it in time for Christmas. Still not finished.

February came around again and with that came my Mom's birthday. Yep, still not finished.

So, that leads me to Mother's Day.....again. That should be coming up really soon. I wonder if I will finish it by then?

Who am I kidding? This is me that I am talking about.

R is for Raindrops

Rain is kind of a big deal here in the desert. Maybe because it doesn't happen all that often. Now that the daily high temperatures are up in the 90's, I am really missing the rain more and more.

Who knows when it will rain again.

P is for Projects

I have a thing for projects.

I think it all started when I took a photo-a-day every day for an entire year. That project lasted for 3 years.  [Click on the icons below if you want to read more about each project]

Then it just continued from there.

For 31 days straight it was ALL about the clouds.

Then I got my crafty on by creating an index card every day. My supplies got a workout!

And since it had been awhile since I had joined in on a daily photo project. I took part in the August Break.

Then there is Project Life...which is actually just another word for scrapbooking but with more of a weekly/monthly approach. I have completed exactly 1 week.

And last but not least....

Blogging from A to Z. So far I have completed 2 years of this project. I wonder.....will I be able to go for 3?

M is for Multnomah

Multnomah is a shawl knitting pattern that I have been wanting to make for years. A couple of years ago I finally bought the yarn and it has been sitting in the same bag it came home in ever since.

I have been so busy the past couple of years making projects for others that I haven't had time to start one just for me. I have big plans to start this pattern soon.....well as soon as I finish my Saroyan and my socks and my blanket.

I'm antsy to start a new project.

L is for Lincoln

Lincoln, the movie that is.

The disc arrived from Netflix 13 days ago and it has just been sitting there, unwatched.

I may be partial to the president who shares the day of my birth, but this movie is 2.5 hrs long! Is it worth 2.5 hours of my time?  What if I don't like it? How would I get that 2.5 hours back?

Have you seen it? Did you like it?
