A is for Anticipation

For those of you that are new here, I recently adopted a kitten from the shelter.

While at the shelter, the majority of her fur was shaved. Well, except for her tummy, legs, head and tail. It's probably the reason why she wasn't adopted as quickly as one would have expected.

Whoever shaved her, did a terrible job. It's so bad that she was the talk of the Vet's office when she went in for her first check-up. Poor kitty will forever be known as the kitty with the freaky haircut.

It is slowly growing back.

Too slowly.

The anticipation is killing me!

I can't wait until her fur grows back. It's just like Christmas. I don't know what I am going to get.

  1. It seems like they were trying to give her a lion cut, the same cut I get my Maine Coon Mowgli every six months or so. Their hair gets so matted underneath unless you do this for them. The problem with the vet cut that poor little Olive got, is they didn't even shave underneath. Alas, the difference between a good and bad haircut is a week, though sadly it may take a bit longer for her. She still is cute as a button! You must be having so much fun with her :)

My post for the challenge is up over at Ink & Stitches. I'd love for you to come by and check it out: http://blog.jhwinter.com. A is for Amigurumi!

    1. Hi Julianne. Our Vet is at a loss as to why she was shaved the way that she was. All the hard to keep clean areas were not even touched. So, she looks really funny with all this hair sticking out in weird places because the shave was so uneven.

As you can see in the video, they shaved the back of her head and just stopped. Everyone that saw her that first week thought there was something wrong with her head because it was so big compared to her body.

I think you may be right about it taking longer for her. We have had her about 2 months now and her hair is barely starting to grow.

  3. What a beautiful cat. I have six cats - all boys - and the house wouldn't be the same without them.

Wishing you and your cat all the best in the years ahead.

Good luck with the rest of the challenge.

    1. Thank you, elenchera. I have never had a boy cat. Well, not that I can remember. I would love to have more in the house, but the other person that lives here will only let me have 2 at a time.

    1. Thanks, Melissa Priest. I think she is adorable too. I think she will be quite pretty once she is done growing. At least, I hope so. Either way, she does have a cute face. :-)

  8. She's adorable! It's ok, Olive, we've all had bad hairdos. I had bangs a few years ago and I have photographic evidence that it was a REALLY BAD IDEA.

    1. Thanks darkchami. The shelter said she was 7 months old when I adopted her back in February. Our Vet seems to think that she may be closer to a year but not older than that.
